What the data is telling us.

Bangalore ranks first with 93/100, becoming the first South Asian city to lead a global AI talent ranking in ENTRA's series. Seoul follows at 90, Tallinn at 87. Three cities that would have appeared on no one's shortlist for an AI talent ranking a decade ago now sit above Toronto (84), Prague (79), and every Western European capital in an emerging-market cohort that is, by the methodology, more attractive for remote AI work than several of the established nodes the industry built its geography around.

The finding that matters most in this first edition is not which city ranked first — it is the shape of the top twenty. Thirteen of the twenty cities on this list score higher on at least one dimension than San Francisco, the canonical center of gravity of the global AI industry. The mechanism is straightforward: a remote AI professional earning USD-denominated income from global employers increasingly does not need to be physically near the money to earn it, but does need to be in a city that maximizes what that money produces. That realization is what turns Bangalore, Medellín, and Nairobi from talent-export cities into talent-destination cities — and it is the core editorial thesis of the July 2026 Remote Issue.
