Lean Technologies built the open-banking API layer that lets Gulf fintechs connect to MENA banking infrastructure without bilateral data agreements — Saudi Arabia's open-finance regulatory framework is the structural enabler, and Lean is the primary middleware running on top of it. The company's Cairo remote engineering programme is among the region's most cost-efficient: senior backend engineers on Egyptian-market contracts run $50K–$65K annually, servicing the same product stack that Riyadh in-market equivalents would cost 2.5x to staff. Series B backed by Sequoia Capital India and General Catalyst; exact raise size not publicly disclosed.
